The China County-Level Data on Provincial Economic Yearbooks, Keyed to 1:1m GIS Map was developed by the team let by Professor Robert F. Dernberger (Director of the Center of China Studies, University of Michigan, USA). The activities of the team i ncluded data collection, database design and implementation, bilingual (English and Chinese) variable definition, dataset description and related documentation from 1994-1996.

Professor Robert F. Dernberger collected the references and developed database design in May 1994 with assistance of Mrs. Huibin Cai (Research Assistant, Center of China Studies, University of Michigan), and Dr. Liu Chuang (Information Scientist, CIESIN). Professor Robert F. Dernberger and Mrs. Huibin Cai completed the attribute data entries and the bilingual (English and Chinese) variable documentation from 1994 - 1995. Ms. Alana B oland geo-coded the table data (1990 and 1991) to the China Administrative Regions GIS Data: 1:1M, County Level, 1990 in June 1996.

Mr. Richard Cicone (Director of Information Resources and Technology, CIESIN) coordinated project support by CIESIN.

The SEDAC (Socioeconomic Data and Application Center) China task group coordinated data management at CIESIN. Contributors included: Dr. Liu Chuang (China Task Leader) for coordinating between CIESIN and CITAS, and within the China task group, as w ell as the data checking and dataset guide; Dr. Karen C. Sullivan (Information Specialist) for the metadata records; Mr. Xiaoshi Xing (Data Systems Specialist) for archiving the data; Mrs. Clara J del Valle (Data Specialist) for pe rmission of the data dissemination; Dr. Liu Chuang and Dr. Darryl Charache (Information Scientist) for the World Wide Web (WWW) site; Mr. Richard L. Robinson (User Services Manager) and Mr. Jack M. Evans (Data Specialist) fo r user support; Dr. Robert Chen ( Director of Data Center Services and SEDAC Project Manager) provided overall project guidance.
