The fundamental GIS: Digital Chart of China, 1:1M, Version 1 was provided by Dr. Qin Tang (CITAS Database Manager at University of Washington), Prof. William Lavely ( Director of CITAS - China in Time and Space - Project and Associate Professor at University of Washington, Seattle, USA.) and Dr. Liu Chuang (Information Scientist at CIESIN).

The data were converted from the Digital Chart of the World (Vector Product Format version by the Defense Mapping Agency) and edited into the ARC/INFO ® format.
