The 2010 EPI has been released! Please visit http://epi.yale.edu for the preliminary report and data. We will be posting all materials here in the near future.
This Web site provides access to materials relating to the 2008 Environmental Performance Index (EPI), including:
• Summary for Policy Makers, Report, and Data
• Interactive Web site
The Web site also includes an archive of data and reports for the 2006 EPI.
The 2008 EPI centers on two broad environmental protection objectives:
(1) reducing environmental stresses on human health, and
(2) promoting ecosystem vitality and sound natural resource management.
Environmental health and ecosystem vitality are gauged using 25 indicators tracked in 10 policy categories: Environmental Health, Air Pollution (effects on humans), Water (effects on humans), Air Pollution (effects on ecosystems), Water (effects on ecosystems), Biodiversity and Habitat, Forestry, Fisheries, Agriculture, and Climate Change. The EPI utilizes a proximity-to-target methodology focused on a core set of environmental outcomes linked to policy goals. The 2008 EPI includes 149 countries based on data availability.
Communications about the EPI may be directed to the addresses below.
