The Pilot 2006 Environmental Performance Index (EPI) portion of the Compendium of Environmental Sustainability Indicator Collections contains 39 variables for 238 countries. The EPI has two components, environmental health and ecosystem vitality, which are tracked in six well-established policy categories: Environmental Health, Air Quality, Water Resources, Productive Natural Resources, Biodiversity and Habitat, and Sustainable Energy. The Pilot 2006 EPI is the result of collaboration among the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy (YCELP), Columbia University Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN), World Economic Forum (WEF), and the Joint Research Centre (JRC), European Commission. The data are distributed by the Columbia University Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN).
