Earth Observing System (EOS) Data Gateway (EDG) is the online search-and-order system for Earth science data products from NASA and affiliated centers. The EDG system allows users to search data holdings, retrieve high-level descriptions of datasets, view browse images, and place orders for data products.

Earth Observing System Data Information System (EOSDIS) Distributed Active Archive Centers (DAACs) are a network of nine discipline-specific data centers that process, archive, document, and distribute data from NASA's Earth observing satellites and field measurement programs. All NASA Earth science data are described in the Global Change Master Directory (GCMD), and most data can be ordered via the EOS Data Gateway (EDG). In addition, each data center has its own data-delivery methods and data-analysis tools.

EOS-Webster is hosted by the University of New hampshire and provides free, customized Earth Science data. Data holdings can be searched spatially, temporally, by keyword, free text, and/or collection name.

Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP) Federation Find Tool is powered by Mercury, a web-based system that searches dataset descriptions and web pages for links to additional information and documentation, providing data links when available. ESIPs are government agencies, national laboratories, universities, nonprofit organizations, and commercial businesses collaborating to ensure better distribution of scientific data and information.

Global Change Master Directory (GCMD) holds more than 20,000 descriptions of Earth and environmental science datasets and services. Users can browse the description inventory, as well as, search by controlled keywords or free text, create or modify their own descriptions, and search using customized portals for focused science communities.

Global Land Cover Facility (GLCF) provides Earth science data and products to further understanding of global environmental systems. In particular, the GLCF develops and distributes remotely sensed satellite data and products that explain landcover from the local to global scales. Primary data and products available at the GLCF are free to anyone via FTP. Online datasets may be accessed electronically through the Earth Science Data Interface (ESDI).

Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research Data and Information System (IAI-DIS) is a data and information system focusing on contributing to the standardization and exchange of scientific data between investigators and institutions by providing data discovery and dissemination through a metadata management process for data created by IAI projects.

International Research Institute for Climate Prediction (IRI)/LDEO Climate Data Library contains over 300 datasets from a variety of earth science disciplines and climate-related topics. The tool provides the ability to create analyses of data ranging from simple averaging to more advanced EOF analyses, monitor present climate conditions with maps and analyses in the "Maproom", create visual representations of data, including animations, and download data in a variety of commonly-used formats, including GIS-compatible formats.

Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO) is a leading research institution where more than 200 research scientists seek fundamental knowledge about the origin, evolution and future of the natural world. From global climate change to earthquakes, volcanoes, nonrenewable resources, environmental hazards and beyond, the Observatory's fundamental challenge is to provide a rational basis for the difficult choices faced by humankind in the stewardship of this fragile planet. Data from research are available in the Databases and Repositories section of the web site.

National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) is a federally funded research and development center. With partners at universities and research centers, NCAR is dedicated to exploring and understanding the atmosphere and its interactions with the Sun, the oceans, the biosphere, and human society. NCAR provides research tools for accessing/downloading data, software to support data formatting, modeling, display and analysis, and visualization, in addition to a wealth of information on modeling Earth systems and processes to better understand and predict their behavior.

National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) is the world's largest active archive of weather data  and operates the World Data Center for Meteorology. NCDC manages the U.S. resource of global climatological in-situ and remotely sensed data and information to promote global environmental stewardship; to describe, monitor and assess the climate; and to support efforts to predict changes in the Earth's environment. This effort requires the acquisition, quality control, processing, summarization, dissemination, and preservation of a vast array of climatological data generated by the national and international meteorological services.

National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC) provides scientific stewardship, products and services for geophysical data describing the solid earth, marine, and solar-terrestrial environment, as well as earth observations from space. NGDC's data holdings contain more than 300 digital and analog databases.

National Ocenographic Data Center (NODC) manages the acquisition, ingest processing, quality control and long-term preservation of physical, chemical, and biological oceanographic data. NODC hosts several web applications for accessing, visualizing, and downloading data.

National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) provides data and information for snow and ice processes, particularly interactions among snow, ice, atmosphere, and ocean, in support of research in global change detection and model validation. NSIDC also provides general data and information services to the cryospheric and polar processes research community.

Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) provides data and information about the dynamics between the biological, geological, and chemical components of the Earth's environment. These dynamics are influenced by interactions between organisms and their physical surroundings, including soils, sediments, water, and air.
