Environmental Data Center (EDC) Geospatial Data Analysis Laboratory is a Geographic Information System (GIS) laboratory at the University of Rhode Island, Department of Natural Resources Science, College of Environmental and Life Sciences (CELS). Its mission is to support the use of contemporary tools of spatial data processing in the analysis of environmental data. It houses the Rhode Island Geographic Information System (RIGIS) database, the most comprehensive and detailed of any state in America and contains information on almost all aspects of Rhode Island's natural and cultural resources.

Environmental Data Registry (EDR) is a comprehensive, authoritative reference for information about the definition, source, and uses of environmental data. The EDR supports the creation and implementation of data standards that are designed to promote the efficient sharing of environmental information among EPA, states, tribes, and other information trading partners. The EDR also catalogs data elements in application systems. The EDR does not contain environmental data - it provides descriptive information to make the data more meaningful.

Environmental Resource Information Network (ERIN) is a unit within Australia's Department of the Environment and Heritage specializing in online data and information management, and spatial data integration and analysis. ERIN aims to improve environmental outcomes by developing and managing a comprehensive, accurate and accessible information base for environmental decisions.

European Directory of Marine Environmental Data (EDMED) was initiated in 1991 by the British Oceanographic Data Centre within the EC-MAST framework and has established itself as a de-facto European standard for indexing and searching datasets relating to the marine environment. It covers a wide range of disciplines and is a high-level inventory, describing both datasets and data holding centres. EDMED describes more than 2300 Datasets from over 500 Data Holding Centres across Europe.

European Environmental Agency (EEA) provides decision-makers with the information needed for making sound and effective policies to protect the environment and support sustainable development. It provides a data service to access acidification, agriculture, air, air quality, biodiversity change, chemicals, climate change, economy, energy, fisheries, households, human health, industry, natural resources, nature, noise, ozone depletion, population, soil, waste, tourism, transport, water datasets. The Agency also provides access to the State of the Environment Reporting Information System (SERIS), an inventory of national state of the environment reports. The database contains publications for countries included in the EEA's third assessment report, along with the European Pollutant Emission Register (EPER), which is the first European-wide register of industrial emissions into air and water.

Marine Environmental Data Network contains descriptions of more than 600 datasets held by 90 UK laboratories. The datasets are catalogued irrespective of their format and cover a wide range of disciplines including marine meteorology, physical, chemical and biological oceanography, marine biology, geology and environmental quality monitoring.

Marine Environmental Data Services (MEDS) manages and archives ocean data collected by Canada's federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) or acquired through national and international programmes conducted in ocean areas adjacent to Canada, and disseminates data, data products, and services to the marine community in accordance with the policies of the Department.

Master Environmental Library (MEL) provides direct and timely access to natural environment information, data, and products, wherever they reside. This includes non-geospatial data such as models, algorithms, and documents, as well as basic environmental data. MEL is currently focused on DoD modeling and simulation users, but is accessible to other DoD, federal, commercial, and academic communities as well. Its goal is to become the "One-Stop Environment Shop", where all DoD, and non-DoD, users can remotely access and request environmental resources to satisfy their diverse individual needs.

Minnesota Pollution Control Agency provides data from water quality monitoring sites located in Minnesota. When available the conditions of lakes, rivers or streams assessed can also be viewed.

National Biological Information Infrastructure (NBII) is a broad, collaborative program to provide increased access to data and information on U.S. biological resources. The NBII links diverse, high-quality biological databases, information products, and analytical tools maintained by NBII partners and other contributors in government agencies, academic institutions, non-government organizations, and private industry. NBII partners and collaborators also work on new standards, tools, and technologies that make it easier to find, integrate, and apply biological resources information. Resource managers, scientists, educators, and the general public use the NBII to answer a wide range of questions related to the management, use, orconservation of U.S. biological resources.

National Coastal Data Development Center (NCDDC) supports ecosystem stewardship by providing access to U.S. coastal data resources. NCDDC achieves this capability through the integration of diverse coastal data distributed in multiple repositories and provides these data by maintaining a searchable metadata catalog of coastal data, developing gateways to data repositories and using middleware technology that provides data in user specified formats.

National Environment Research Council (NERC) provides independent research and training in the environmental sciences. Its mission is to gather and apply knowledge, improve understanding and predict the behavior of the natural environment and its resources.

National Environmental Data Index (NEDI) provides direct access to environmental data and information. The overall goal of NEDI is to facilitate the use of the widest possible range of environmental data and information to support our ability to protect human health, safety, and welfare; to maintain and restore ecological integrity; and to sustain economic stability and growth. NEDI will be a focus for identifying environmental data and information holdings within the United States and ultimately, internationally.
