Interdisciplinarity
Doing integrated assessment well is an incredibly difficult and demanding task. The problems we face are just plain hard. This is in part because integrated assessment is quintessentially interdisciplinary in nature. However, we are not alone. There are a host of other complex interdisciplinary fields, and there is a growing literature on the problems of doing interdisciplinary research (Chaubin et al. 1986; Klein, 1990). Here we touch on just a couple of the problems of doing interdisciplinary research as it pertains to integrated assessment.
