Gridded Population of the World, Version 4 (GPWv4): Population Density Adjusted to Match 2015 Revision of UN WPP Country Totals are available as global grids in GeoTIFF at 30" and in GeoTIFF and ASCII at 2.5', 0.25⁰, 0.5⁰, and 1⁰ formats. Each downloadable is a compressed zip file, which contains: 1) the global GeoTIFF or ASCII for the year of estimate, 2) PDF documentation, 3) a Microsoft Excel file (.xlsx) with country-level information and sources, and 4) a text file (.txt) with a log of changes to the dataset by version.
