This website grew out of a December 2000 workshop at the Woodrow Wilson International Center in Washington DC, organized by the Socioeconomic Data and Applications Center (SEDAC), and co-sponsored by the IUCN, MEDIAS FRance, and the Woodrow Wilson Center's Environmental Change and Security Project.
