Environmental Performance Index (EPI)

The 2022 Environmental Performance Index (2022 EPI) centers on three policy objectives: Environmental Health, Ecosystem Vitality and Climate Change. These are gauged using 40 indicators tracked in 11 issue categories:

Waste Management
Biodiversity & Habitat
Ecosystem Services
Fisheries
Acid Rain
Agriculture
Water Resources

The EPI utilizes a proximity-to-target methodology focused on a core set of environmental outcomes linked to policy goals. The 2022 EPI includes 180 countries based on data availability.
