A CIESIN Thematic Guide to Land Use and Land Cover Change (LUCC)

An introduction to land use and land cover changes; key topics include deforestation, desertification, biodiversity loss, land cover and the water cycle, land cover and the carbon cycle, and urbanization.

A CIESIN Thematic Guide to Social Science Applications of Remote Sensing

An introduction to remote sensing for a non-technical audience, as well as a look at the application of remote sensing to social science research questions; with examples of social science applications in six different fields, and a table listing the characteristics of major sensors.

Stratospheric Ozone and Human Health

Selected reports by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) on the environmental and health effects of stratospheric ozone depletion, its monitoring, and regulation are part of this revised guide. In addition, it offers a bibliographical collection of related scientific papers and materials. The topics coincide with, but are not be limited by, those covered in the UNEP Environmental Effects Assessment Panel. The reports and bibliography presented here replace the Thematic Guide on Ozone Depletion and Global Environmental Change along with other resources formerly available from this site.
